Changes on the Wind
September 12
I know, I know. I should just build the damn site and stick with it. I can’t do it, though. I just can’t. It’s some strange need that I can’t resist; I have to redesign. It’s not finished yet, but it should be in a week or two. I still haven’t planned out how some areas/sections are going to work or if they’ll even be there any longer. No content should be lost, but I may do away with the portfolio section that never had anything in it and a few other small changes. It’s going to be a very distressed layout, inspired in no small part by the Wicked Worn tutorials from Cameron Moll.
Well, the changes are coming, so I’ll leave it at that. Not much has changed around here. We’re still looking for a house to buy. Haven’t had any other problems with the landlord or anything. We also haven’t mowed, as I said we wouldn’t. Hopefully we’re out of this house in a month or two so we can start using our money for something important and not a rent payment.
I picked up a copy of Dance Dance Revolution and two dance mats this past week on Ebay. We’ve been playing for 10 - 15 minutes each night for the past few nights. It’s fun and a good workout. You feel really stupid at first, but then you realize that most other people really suck, too, and that no one playing with you has time to watch you suck as they’re too busy trying not to suck at the same time. We’re getting less sucky, though, at least at a few songs.
Sometimes I really wish our lives were more exciting, but they’re not.
Good luck on the redesign… I’ve been thinking about it myself lately. Your mockup looks great.
Also, best of luck on DDR… I would definitely fall into the “sucky dancer” category. I didn’t know they made a home version with mats and such.

Thanks for the comments on the mockup. Most of the work that’s left is planning non-article/list pages and working out some javascript/css trickery I want to do.
And, yeah, they have it for PS2 and Xbox, I know. I’m not sure about Gamecube. The pads are pretty affordable, too. I bought two pads, thicker than the basic ones, for around $15 total.

Any chance of us seeing another screenshot of the redesign in action?
I love your last line in the post: “Sometimes I really wish our lives were more exciting, but they’re not.” That cracks me up. I always imagine that everyone else has this grand, wonderfully exciting life. Thanks for being down to earth! I told my wife about that line at dinner last night when we had to end up eating PB&J sandwiches for dinner when we burnt our steaks. We both got a laugh out of it since we were currently being reminded that we don’t live such exciting lives.
